It’s not a huge surprise that an American classic such as the Adirondack Chair has made such a great come back in only the last few years. This retro craze is spreading quickly since folks across America are electing to spend more free time relaxing and kicking back in a faithfully designed outdoor living area. I myself remember as a six year old, sliding into one of these great old chairs, with my feet swinging just over the edge, while grandpa and I peeled the apples we picked and discussed the warm apple pie mounded with melting vanilla ice cream that we just knew granny would have for us after we had supper. Balancing a cool lemonade on the wide arm rest, the breeze was warm and mellow. When Grandpa told his stories it made time fly by. It really is no big mystery why we like to relax outdoors, whether it’s out on the patio, out on the porch where you can watch the neighborhood go by, in your garden area, or on your deck. There isn’t a better way to do that than to slide into a deep seated, familiar, high backed Adirondack and just leave your cares behind.

As the Adirondack style got more and more popular, and found its way around the country, regional influences started showing up.
